FAQ

Paint having the same properties as the thin-layer plaster used for thermal insulation is the most suitable in that case. For acrylic plaster used, acrylic paint, e.g. ALPOL AF 640 is suitable. For silicate plaster, silicate paint, e.g. ALPOL AF 660 should be used. When no information on the plaster type used is available, some limitations must be observed. They are the following:

  • On mineral wool insulation highly diffusing paints, e.g. ALPOL AF 660 silicate or ALPOL AF 680 silicone paint should be used.
  • Silicate paint can be used only on mineral type substrates. These are thin-layer mineral and silicate plaster coatings. Such paint type is not suitable for acrylic and silicone plaster.
  • The ALPOL AF 680 silicone paint can be used practically on any type of plaster. It has great adhesion strength, is diffusing (steam and CO2 permeable) and highly hydrophobic (non-absorbing).
  • The acrylic paint can be used practically on any type of plaster, but only if it is ccompanied with Styrofoam insulation.
