Application of tiles may be started when all previous operations according to the design have been completed and our instructions for waterproofing of balconies, terraces and loggias with ALPOL HYDRO PLUS T system have been adhered to.
First, treat the surface with ALPOL AG 707 silicate-polymer primer for mineral substrates. Then, apply undertile waterproofing course using the two-component ALPOL AH 752 flexible sealing mortar. Apply medium-thick ALPOL AK 517 liquefied flexible adhesive for ceramic cladding on the waterproofing course when dry. Use special trowels with rounded, semicircular notches for spreading the adhesive. This water and frost-resistant adhesive of increased flexibility is specially suitable for balconies and terraces. The adhesive coat should be between 4 mm and 20 mm thick. Additionally, due to its semi-liquid consistency, air voids are avoided under the tiles, which prevents from water penetration and consequential tile flaking off after winter season.
