FAQ
How to prepare the pool substrate before the installation of the under-tile waterproofing?
Always read the instructions on a package or in the product data sheet before using any ALPOL product for waterproofing. Under-tile waterproofing made with the use of AH 753 can be applied on concrete surfaces, basement and foundation masonry walls (with joints fully grouted), cement, cement-lime plaster, cement screed, gypsum substrate. Before the waterproofing is installed, the substrate must be prepared appropriately. It must be sound, free from dirt and substances which may impair adhesion. New plaster work and concrete should be set and seasoned. Old, loose and peeling material of poor adhesion should be removed. Damages and irregularities on the pool concrete surface must be patched with special mortar for reshaping concrete surfaces. At least 3 hours prior to application of the compound, treat the substrate with ALPOL AG 707 silicate-polymer primer. Corners, at the contact points between walls and walls and bottom, which are particularly exposed to stress, should be strengthened with ALPOL tapes and corner beads with their edges embedded in ALPOL AH 753 mortar. Floor drains and pipe penetrations should be sealed with appropriate ALPOL sealing sleeves with their edges embedded in ALPOL AH 753 waterproof mortar. Moreover, degrease and remove rust as well as apply corrosion protection to metallic components.
