INNOVATIVE MORTARS TO DIFFERENT TYPE OF BRICKS
2015-05-06

Buildings and walls of clinker façade is a business card of many Polish and European cities. Clinker brick is synonymous with durability and elegance. Currently, hand-formed bricks with a natural, irregular appearance and facing bricks (silicate, with a smooth or cleaved surface), are also increasingly used.

Clinker and hand-formed bricks differ greatly in many elements, including production method, heat drying and firing, technical features and design. Water absorption is one of the most important features, which have a particularly large impact on the selection of mortar for bricklaying. Clinker bricks are much less absorbent than hand-formed or silicate. The water absorption of clinker bricks is less than 6% , while the absorption of the hand-formed bricks may even be above 20% and of silicate bricks is approximately 14%.

ALPOL GIPS company has noticed this problem and developed the production of different mortars so that the contractor could have the access to mortars that can be used for one or another type of bricks.

One of our mortars, Clinker nano-mortar ALPOL AZ 120-126, is already widely known in the European market because it was repeatedly rewarded and distinguished as an innovative product. Nano-mortar for high absorption hand-formed bricks ALPOL AZ 160-166 has recently joined to her. Both of these mortars combine the best characteristics of mortars available on the market. In addition, by using nano additives it eliminates the cause, but not the effects of efflorescence on the walls and chimneys of bricks. It is the only patented mortar, available in seven colors: graphite, gray, brown, red, gray, black, sand.

Clinker nano-mortars ALPOL AZ 120-126 are designed for masonry, structural walls, chimneys, fencing, foundations and wells with brick facing and clinker (water absorption ≤ 6%), while nano-mortar for high absorption hand-formed bricks ALPOL AZ 160÷166 are intended for masonry, elements heavy loads, chimneys, fences and similar objects from hand-formed bricks, grain, clinker, silicate and other high absorption (from 6 to up 17%).

Nano-mortars can also be used for grouting joints with a width of 30 mm between bricks and façade tiles. They are suitable for use indoors or outdoors.
