I am planning to redecorate a facade insulated thermally with Styrofoam and covered with mineral plaster several years ago. Its surface has never been painted and it is riddled with small cracks. It does not, however, fall off and seems to be solid. What paint is recommended for such application?

We recommend using Alpol AF 645 highly flexible acrylic paint. If the cracks or scratches are smaller than 0.25 mm, you can also use AF 685 flexible silicone paint. On request, these paints can match almost any colour. However... Read more

The facade of my building is covered with a highly cracked cement and lime plaster. The plasterer must have used too much cement, making the plaster too solid. Despite being cracked, the plaster does not fall off. Locally, the cracks are definitelyeasy to spot but they has stopped growing larger anymore. Can I use flexible paint to cover them?

If the cracks are smaller than 0.25 mm, you can also use Alpol AF 685 flexible silicone paint. Good vapour permeability is its additional advantage. If the cracks are larger, the only solution is to use Alpol AF 645 highly flexible acrylic paint.... Read more

First of all, it is necessary to determine the cause of cracking. Cracks might occur due to insulation slabs being bonded improperly. Using flexible paint will eliminate the effect, leaving the cause unresolved. The cracks may appear again. ... Read more
